Harvard DL Josue Ortiz Interview

The Bills are no stranger when it comes to the Ivy League. Our legendary coach Marv Levy was a graduate student there and our starting QB represented the Crimson proudly prior to entering the NFL. There is something to be said for the Ivy League brand of football, and I’m not talking about their SAT scores.

Everybody wants to talk about Yale QB Patrick Witt,  but I think even Patrick Witt would be happy to talk about Harvard DL Josue Ortiz. After all he’s gotten to know him really well as Ortiz has dominated their match-up putting up 20 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks, and 1 FF in the three years the two have faced off.

Ortiz came into last week’s Player’s All-Star Classic in Little Rock, Arkansas as somewhat of an unknown but made an immediate impact upon arrival as he came in at 6’4, 257 lbs. with 34 inch arms. For a guy who has spent almost his entire college career with his hand on the ground he was asked an awful lot about how he would feel about moving outside in a 34.

We talked a bit about how hard it is to be a college athlete and go to Harvard, along with the stigma that comes along with going to the Ivy League’s as a football player.

Unfortunately the phone cut out before we could end the interview by wishing Josue the best of luck moving forward, our thanks again for taking the time, and congratulations on his upcoming nuptials.
